Our Formation
The first initiative to found a German National Committee for Blue Shield dates back to the year 2006, brought forward by Dr Thomas Schuler together with ICOM Germany and the German Society for Cultural Property Protection (Deutschen Gesellschaft für Kulturgutschutz e.V.).
Ten years later, Prof. Dr. Markus Hilgert was officially announced as the National Correspondent for the Blue Shield in Germany and brought the negotiations among the relevant Germans institutions to a successful outcome.
On June 16, 2017, the foundational assembly for the German National Committee Blue Shield was held in Berlin and was attended by representatives of key institutions such as the Federal Foreign Office, the German Authority for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief and the German Army.
The statutes of the association stipulate that the board consists not only of individual members, but also of representatives of the six recognised constituting (institutional) members, including ...
